Dream Analysis, Study of Dreams Discover the Meaning Behind Dreams
Dream Analysis starts when you begin to acknowledge the parts of you that do not share your everyday consciousness.
Your willingness to communicate in this way opens up an awareness that is rooted in the truth of who you really are. Every night you have this opportunity! How to remember dreams: To embark on this practice of Dream Analysis, begin with an intention to remember your dreams. It may be useful to gather up a few tools to implement and develop this exercise.
Here is a small list: -Dream Journal/Diary -Pen/Pencil -Lamp/Alternate Soft Lighting
Note: The lamp is only necessary if you wake between dreams and wish to record them.
Study of Dreams by Recording Dreams Upon waking write down whatever it is you can remember, even if all you can remember are dream fragments. Sometimes drawing can be beneficial too. After you have finished writing to your satisfaction, sum up your dream with a working title. Short, succinct titles tend to work best. Regular, faithful recording improves the quality and depth of dream recall and your dream experience. Furthermore it demonstrates your commitment and earnest desire for truth. Now that you have a basic process in place, it is time to build on your previously acquired skills. This is where you can begin to ask your most significant life questions like: Who Am I? or What is the Meaning of Life?
How to Ask Your Dreams for Guidance In the evening, settle down comfortably into bed and quietly in your mind ask: “Can you show me - insert your question here - in my dream tonight?” Position your dream recording tools nearby and allow yourself to drop off to sleep trusting that you will indeed receive an answer.
Finding Out What Dreams Mean After recording your dream engage your feelings of intuition by using the power of association to draw out otherwise hidden meanings.
Here are some questions you could apply to dream analysis:
- Where was the dream set? What did the scenery look like? Did it remind me of anything?
- Who was I in the dream? Did I play myself or was I in another role?
- Were there other people there? If so, who were they and how well do I know them in real life? What's the nature of their relationship to me?
- If these people were to represent a part of me, which part would they represent? Could they stand for something I believe in, my feelings or an activity I partake in?
- What was the general vibe of the dream? Did the feeling change at any point? If so, when, how and why?
- When I wrote down my dream and gave it a title, did it contain a key message? If so, how would this tie in with any other elements?
- Overall, if the dream was trying to show me or teach me something, what would that be?
Who is the Best Person to Interpret Your Dreams? You are! Why? Because the symbols and metaphors will be personally significant to you. However, you may share it with others, if you feel the retelling will trigger an association you wouldn’t have had otherwise.
Note: If you don't immediately get strong results from dream analysis, just remember that like any other new skill it takes persistence and practice. Your mind needs to get used to the idea that you wish to communicate with it in this way. Once you have demonstrated your genuine interest, your consciousness can be opened up to a whole new way of learning about life.
