Easy Meditation Techniques
- For When You Need Them Most!

Easy meditation techniques are great for when you are looking for tools to help you cope with life's contingencies. Whether you are facing unexpected, or expected life situations, meditation is always there wherever you need it. Thus giving you a way to provide yourself support and improve the way you handle life’s experiences.

Have a read through the various easy meditation techniques listed below and choose the one that closest fits your needs.

Breathing Meditation

Where and When: Useful for when you want to prevent or reduce stress. Try this meditation while in a Dentist’s chair, after a life-changing event or while receiving unexpected news.

What and How: Helps to circumvent racing thoughts and gives you back dominion of your mind.

Essentially Breathing Meditation is becoming aware of and concentrating on your breathing. Choose to become conscious of your breathing; observe how your body inhales and exhales; feel the movement of your breathing.

This meditation style is also described in How to Meditate for Beginners.

Feeling Meditation

Where and When: Useful for when you want to stay in control. Try this meditation while public speaking; as a crisis is occurring; or if you are feeling uneasy.

What and How: Can be transformational. At the very least, it can help you feel more calm.

Yes, sometimes it may be tempting to focus on negative feelings, but keep in mind that when you focus on negative feelings they compound. Imagine the reverse! Imagine what happens when you centre yourself in good feelings? Choosing to feel a good feeling (like trust) creates the necessary space for change.

Inward Focus Meditation

Where and When: This meditation is useful for those times when you are feeling physical pain or fear. It can also be effective for working on long standing, unhealed pain.

What and How: Naturally you want it to go away, but how? Embrace it!

What does embracing it mean?

It means going to where you perceive the pain or fear and allowing yourself to experience it. Do this with a sense of curiosity. Once you have permitted yourself to do this, it will have served its purpose and is free to dissolve.
