Easy Relaxation Techniques, Conscious Relaxation

Easy relaxation techniques can help bring about peace and harmony.

But first let's examine the nature of relaxation. Relaxation involves not taking anything too seriously. Notice how children are able to laugh easily at their mistakes and how they may cry one moment and smile the next.

It is when we get wound up so tight, focusing in one direction only that we can get too stressed. Relaxation starts with unwinding the tight coils of the mind and the muscles of the body.

Interestingly fear and pain can often be entwined.

Some Questions for You:
  • Do you always take holidays when they're due?
  • Do you ever take time out to do nothing on your day off?
  • Do you ever meditate? If yes, when was the last time?
  • Is there any way you could lessen or share your responsibilities?
If not, could you change your attitude towards them?

Think about the answers to these questions and contemplate how you got to where you are today. It could have begun innocently enough, but then it graduated to a habit. Now is the time to choose to change the habit, gently step-by-step.

As you become used to relaxing again, it will become a natural and essential part of your daily routine.

Three Effective Easy Relaxation Techniques

Have you ever noticed that the most relaxing, sublime moments of life are unaccompanied by thought? The mind does not always have to think... you may experience something more akin to feeling.

1. When you awaken in the morning do thoughts immediately rush in to fill your mind? If so, why don't you experiment with delaying this by conscious relaxation. Be willing to see what it feels like to have spaciousness in your mind. Nothing bad will happen. In fact it could become a fun little game you play with yourself.

2. Practice the art of inner silence by looking at an empty spot on the wall or ceiling. The key is to view something that will not activate your thoughts. Gaze at this empty space for some time, if your gaze wanders... bring your focus back to the original empty spot. You could very well grow to enjoy this practice, you just never know!

3. This relaxation technique is great for those times when you cannot stop thinking, especially when you're trying to get to sleep. Repeat a word that has no specific meaning like: the. Say the, the, the over and over again until you're no longer thinking any other thoughts.

Please Note

Techniques such as these may come across as deceptively simple, but don't let these quick relaxation techniques fool you. With practice you will find the more you move away from stress and the intricacies of the mind, the more likely you'll abide in your natural state of joy.
