Meditation for Beginners
Information on Understanding Meditation

Meditation for beginners: When you've never meditated before, meditation can seem like this mysterious, unknown quality. It ignites your curiosity and has a drawing power that you can't explain.

Have you ever...

  • wanted to feel calmer and more at peace with your life?
  • wished for less turbulence in your thoughts, feelings or reactions?
  • felt like breaking free and just getting away from it all?
Then meditating is for you!

Meditation frees you to be yourself! It enables you to get closer to who you really are, beyond the expectations of others and the society you live in, pure and simple. If desired, you can have this same feeling of freedom and still live the life you're living, doing the same things as you were before.

Meditation for Beginners:  What is Meditation?

Meditation is a steady practice of gradually retraining the mind and its 'habits'. These habits may include:
  • judging and labeling everything
  • being stuck in the dichotomy of opposites, like good and bad
  • racing from one thought to another and that cycle of thoughts attracting more thoughts
Amongst other things, you will learn are how to narrow your focus, gain a concentrative ability and a certain steadiness. Something to look forward to!

How Do You Feel After You Meditate?

Meditation stills the mind. Changes will occur. It will become possible to:
  • experience a calm, inner acceptance
  • feel contented, even when you're not doing anything
  • watch life as it happened, simply observing and absorbing without judgement
This is a beautiful, uncomplicated way to experience life. To learn more, visit the Benefits of Meditation.

Meditating opens up a peaceful awareness, which is the first step (of many steps) towards understanding your true nature. You will begin to understand that the mind and the thoughts you think, do not dictate who you are.

These three simple meditations are provided so that you can work out which one is the most suitable for you: How to Meditate for Beginners.

Also, here are some pointers to ponder over:
  • If (and when) your attention begins to wander during meditation, gently bring yourself back to your chosen style, without comment.

  • If you notice a thought that's OK, it's not unusual for this to occur, just choose not to engage it into conversation.
And, CONGRATULATIONS for your decision to begin your mediation journey!
